Cutting Cords and Letting Go Under a Waning Moon

When the moon is waning, or going from full to new, it can help you to release, shrink, or cut things out of your life.

It's a good time for:

  • Cord Cutting and Energy Retrieving rituals

  • Releasing feelings or habits that no longer serve you

  • Cutting ties to people you don't want to have in your life any longer

  • Losing weight

  • Making someone's influence over you smaller

  • Cleansing your energetic space

Don't worry about fully cutting out people or relationships you would like to keep. This is more of an energetic tidying up to help you get your energy in balance. It won't sever ties; it will help to harmonize your relationships.

If you need to let go of something, write it down in the week before the new moon. Write down everything you hate or fear about it. Write how it makes you feel. Put all of the power it has over you down on the paper.

Then offer it into a fire in the three days before the new moon, releasing the energy contained within. Transforming it. Burning the intensity away, leaving you feeling healed and whole--or at least a lot better!

On the other side of the New Moon is a time for growing things, as the moon grows, going from a sliver to a full, bright orb in the night sky.

This is a time for growing things, bringing MORE into your life.

It's a great time for:

  • Setting growth-minded goals

  • Manifesting abundance/ more money, love, happiness

  • Increased health and vitality

  • More self-love

  • Heightened spiritual awareness

In order to get the best results, you should only focus on one goal or desire per moon cycle.

Tags and Hashtags

Do you know how to use tags and hashtags in your posts?

What are tags? Tags are like tapping someone so the post shows up in their feed. In some cases, tags will also show your post to the audience of the person you are tagging. Hashtags are a way the different platforms (TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter) categorize your posts. This helps with the search function and also helps the algorithm show your posts to the right people.

What is TAGGING a post?

You would put @theprofilename to tag someone in a post. It will show up in their feed (most of the time) and in their alerts, so they—and sometimes their audience—will see your post.

👍🏽 Tagging DOs and DON'Ts 👎🏽

When to use a tag:

👍🏽 When you are collaborating with someone or are a guest on their podcast/site.
👍🏽 When you repost something from their profile (like deck creators, for example).
👍🏽 If you are following a challenge they created, like Ethony's Tarot Challenge.
👍🏽 If you think someone you know would find a post useful. Tag them in the comments or send the post via messenger.

DON'T

👎🏽 Tag a bunch of people in your posts that have nothing to do with them.
👎🏽 Tag someone in the same field as you to promote your offers without getting their permission.
👎🏽 Tag a bunch of half-to-complete strangers in a contest in order to win a prize.

Using hashtags in your posts

Hashtags are more topic-based and are used by the different platforms to categorize your posts and profile.

On one hand, hashtags are important for the algorithm—so your posts get in front of the right audience. On the other hand, hashtags aren't the end all, be all of a post's reach.

Many of the social media platforms are becoming more like search engines. People can search for information about different topics within a platform and then find a variety of related posts within the platform.

The algorithms also show topics a user is usually interested in on their home feed.

This makes using the proper, content driven, keyword-based hashtags for your posts important. It helps the people who are actually looking for and interested in your work find you, either directly or by showing up in their feed or search/explore results.

Choosing the right hashtags for your posts

To get the best results when you are choosing hashtags, make sure to follow the most recent best practices for each platform.

For example, Instagram changes its recommendations from time to time. As of the most recent update, in September of 2022, they recommend using only "a couple of" highly relevant hashtags per post.

YouTube allows you to list three specific hashtags in the description box, then you can use up to 500 characters in the tags, which help people find your videos and also help YouTube to categorize your videos.

Twitter and TikTok also use hashtags to help to categorize your posts and serve them up to users who might be interested in your posts.

Some rules you can use to choose hashtags for your posts:

👍🏽 Do keyword and hashtag research about once every quarter to keep up to date with the latest trends and recommendations for each site
👍🏽 Try to use hashtags that are between 10K and 500K posts, when possible
👍🏽 Use a personalized hashtag, like #spiritualbusinessspotlightpodcast or #sueellissallertarot, especially on platforms like YouTube and Instagram
👍🏽 Put your hashtags in the caption, not the first comment space

👎🏽 Don't use hashtags that don't apply to your post or post content
👎🏽 Don't use too many hashtags, especially if a site directly states their preferences

This post was created in September of 2022, according to current best practices. Of course, we will update you when and if we hear about new rules or best practices.

Marketing Research And Pleasing the Google Gods

Marketing research is one of the most important things you can do to set up a successful content and social media strategy.

Finding the sweet spot between your work and what your clients are looking for can help make or break your business.

Really. It's that important.

You see, oftentimes people look for unique ways to describe their products and services OR they are so far along in their work—as masters and experts—they forget to include the basics or 101-level information when planning out their sales pages, content, and social media posts.

They forget to check into what people are looking for when they search on Google or YouTube.

In order to make sure your audience can find your work, either when they are Googling their issues or scrolling through social media, you should do some keyword research to find out what specific words you should use and what topics to discuss.

Where can you find keywords?

Each platform has its own unique search word combinations, so you want to make sure to search on each platform and adjust your content (titles, captions, hashtags) accordingly.

A word about searching PAIN POINTS

I know many of us prefer to focus on results and outcomes, instead of poking pain points to get a sale. I totally understand the reasoning behind this.

When exploring keywords to use, focus on a transformation. And see what kind of outcome the person is looking for.

You can phrase it as a transformation, like:

From Confused to Focused
From Single to Committed
From Lonely to Fulfilled
From Sad to Happy

(these are really generic, but you can apply the idea to your own work)

Tell a person how to overcome their pain point or tools to use to work on their pain point

What's Your Number for the Year 2022?

Every year has a special number assigned to it. You calculate this number by adding the numbers in the year together, like this: 2+0+2+2 = 6

6 is associated with The Lovers card, but that isn't only about relationships. It's also about choices.

This week, we'll be exploring what the number 6 means from a variety of standpoints.

We'll also be calculating your own personal number for the year and how you can use that information to empower your decisions and improve your life.

Join us this Sunday on ZOOM for our first Seekers meeting.

I'll be creating a link to share with you soon.

2022 Moon Cycles

Do you know how to work with the cycles of the Moon?

The first New Moon of 2022 will be January 2nd, and it's in Capricorn. Capricorn is a hard-working, ambitious, grounded, and driven sign. Despite their serious nature, Capricorns are also known to have a wild side.

If you've been feeling like getting the work done and making things happen in your life—and getting a little freaky while you're at it—you're likely being affected by this Capricorn New Moon.

Things you can do to set the right energy for 2022

  • Create a Vision Board - use Google and your printer to find the exact things you want to manifest into your life in 2022.

  • Start a new journal just for 2022.

  • Set your work goals and define what success looks like for you. Don't forget to be very specific when you write these goals. Try to get as much into the energy and feelings of being successful as possible.

  • Clear and clean clutter. Don't drag anything into 2022 that you don't need. Get rid of clothes that are worn out, that don't fit, or that don't make you look like a million bucks. Get rid of old makeup and cosmetics. Clear up the stacks of paper and magazines that you don't really enjoy. Make space for what you want to come into your life.

  • Clear out your computer files, too! If you want to manifest a certain number of new clients, prepare folders for your new clients.

  • Reiki your home or sage it to clear the energy.

  • Start a daily meditation practice.

  • Write out a manifestation check for yourself. You can find a copy in the attached worksheets.

What will you be doing to set the stage for a successful, healthy, and magical New Year?

Hello and Welcome! Intro Thread

I'd love for you to introduce yourself to the group!

My name is Sue Ellis-Saller. I'm the founder of the Seekers and Spiritual Business Basics membership groups.

I've been reading tarot for 30+ years and studying symbolism, mysticism, and energy healing for quite a long time, too! I'm a professional tarot reader and teacher, a Reiki Master and Healer, and an author.

When I'm not working or studying, I love spending time in the forest near my home, walking with my hubby and dog, hanging out with my kids, and traveling. I love art (both making it and looking at masterpieces).

Me n my kids

I'm kind of dorky and will go off on a tangent from time to time, especially if I'm talking about something I'm passionate about.

I can't wait to get to know you all and start sharing information with you!

Please let me know if there are any topics you'd like to go over, too. I have loads of friends who work in different areas (astrology, angel healing, channeling, and more). My intention is to bring in a guest speaker once a month or so to talk about different topics.

We'll be doing a once per week meeting on Zoom starting January 9th.

I'll be sharing the schedule with you ASAP!

Track Your Numbers

It's a good idea to get into the habit of tracking your numbers, including your followers, viewers, visitors along with your income and expenses.

Copy of TrackingWorksheets.pdf 125.97 KB

Keep a binder with sheet protectors for loose receipts and receipts you get in the mail.

You can write off your:

Business telephone
Internet payments
Platforms (like Kajabi, Podia, Mighty Networks)
Parking and gas
Business lunches
Business travel
PayPal fees
Decks
Crystals
Oils
Taxes paid
Accountant services
Business photo shoots

And much more!

As you are starting out, consult with your local small business association or a local accountant to find out exactly what you can write off. And remember, write offs aren't necessarily "pay backs" or money in the bank. Generally speaking, they reduce your profits so you pay less taxes.

You can find a copy of the electronic tracking worksheets here:

Please save your own copy to use.

It's Sunday! Do you know what you are going to talk about this week?

Hey there!

If you're anything like me, you like to take a bit of time on Sunday to plan out your content for the week ahead.

Of course, you might (and should) have an overarching theme or goal for your content. That can include:

  • Sharing information that educates your audience about some points of a course you are offering

  • Talking about your work at this time of the year. Does it change according to the season?

  • Weekly readings

  • Your scheduled events/lives coming up this week

  • A rough outline for emails for the week (or even the coming weeks, if you want to get ahead)

You can plan a live video, and then download that video and extract a couple of 15-60 second bits for Reels (use Kapwing or even iMovie to cut the short pieces out). You can upload your live to YouTube and then embed it into your website. You can also use key points you mentioned to create a carousel post that highlights the live.

What will you plan for this week?

Spiritual Quotes

What are your favorite spiritual quotes?

Some of mine are:

“We cannot create a new future by holding on to the emotions of the past.” - Dr. Joe Dispenza
“You are a divine being. You matter, you count. You come from realms of unimaginable power and light, and you will return to those realms.” - Terence McKenna
"I've never seen any life transformation that didn't begin with the person in question finally getting tired of their own bullshit." Elizabeth Gilbert
"And above all, be kind, for kindness is the greatest perk in life. It can take you anywhere. It can send you to the moon without ever leaving the ground, and it can save lives in the blink of an eye." R.M. Drake

I'd love to hear some of yours!
